Hopefully she’s ready. Last month, Carmella cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to win the SmackDown Live Women’s Title. This was a heck of an upset, but nothing compared to how big of a surprise it was when Carmella beat Charlotte clean at Backlash the next month. The second win helped establish Carmella as the top name in the division (in a way at least) but that means more people are coming for her. We now know who will be after the title next.

These big match setups don’t go well for Carmella.

Charlotte Flair & Carmella sign contract for their match at Backlash: SmackDown LIVE, April 24, 2018

This week on SmackDown Live, during Carmella’s Royal Mellabrating for winning the title, General Manager Paige came out to announce that Asuka will be challenging Carmella at Money in the Bank. This will be Carmella’s second major title defense since winning the title in early April. While the two of them have had some matches in NXT, this will be their first ever singles match on the main roster.

Opinion: There’s a logic to having Asuka win as you can go with Asuka getting the title while also setting up Asuka vs. Charlotte II (Charlotte beat Asuka, Asuka is now the champion, we need a rematch), but I have a bad feeling WWE might screw this up. Since it’s Money in the Bank, it would make sense for them to have last year’s Money in the Bank winner get a big win to show how much it can elevate you, or to have someone cash in on Asuka and take the title from her again. It’s not like they haven’t done that many times before.

Who do you think wins this match? Will anyone cash in that night? Let us know in the comments below.
