Starting fast. The Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters feature unique lineups and that can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you know what you are going to get each week, but it can allow things to get a little stale at times. One way around this problem is to send someone to another brand in a trade, and that has taken place again, with some immediate results.
Last month, AJ Styles made his way over to SmackDown to enter a tournament for the vacant Intercontinental Title. It was quite the coup for SmackDown and Styles immediately started paying dividends by becoming the new Intercontinental Champion. The only thing that remained was finding out who would be going to Monday Night Raw in his place and now we know who is taking Styles’ place.
This week on Monday Night Raw, Dolph Ziggler made his return to the show, announcing that he and Robert Roode were being traded in exchange for Styles. Ziggler interrupted WWE Champion Drew McIntyre and challenged him for Extreme Rules, with McIntyre granting him the title shot. Roode and Ziggler are former Raw Tag Team Champions and were sent to SmackDown in the 2019 WWE Draft.
Ziggler has a history with Roode and McIntyre. Check out his time with both of them:
Opinion: Ziggler is one of those names where his reception is always going to be mixed. At the end of the day, he has been around WWE for a very long time now and there isn’t much that he hasn’t done. Seeing him in a pay per view title match isn’t going to interest a lot of people and it isn’t like Ziggler and McIntyre have that deep of a history in the first place. The match could be good, but the interest might not be that high.
