Now hold on a minute playa. With the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017 induction ceremony taking place in less than two months, we only have two names announced. Kurt Angle and the Rock N Roll Express have been confirmed with a bunch of rumors being listed otherwise. It now seems that we have a new name confirmed as well.

According to WWE.com, Teddy Long will be going into the Hall of Fame Class of 2017. Long has been around wrestling forever and has acted as a manager, a commentator, an on-screen authority figure and even an occasional in-ring performer. Long was released from WWE in 2014 but made a cameo last year.

Here is Long’s statement on being inducted from Foxsports.com:

“Well, I was really surprised, you know? I had thought about being inducted into the Hall of Fame and I thought ‘well, if they’re going to do that, I’m pretty sure my time will come one day.’ And that’s what did happen. I was real excited, it’s such an honor to be a part of something like this. To go into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame… man, it’s just great. It don’t get no better than that. I just want to thank Vince McMahon and the McMahon family, and the WWE Universe, and all the people that just hung out with me and wanted some more Teddy Long. I’m just excited right now so I’m kind of lost for words.”

I have no issue with this whatsoever. Long has been around since the mid 1980s and comes off as a nice guy. I know there have been better talents and bigger stars in similar positions but Long is someone who has been around for so many years as an entertaining character that this is well deserved.

Who do you think inducts Long? What was your favorite role in his career? Let us know in the comments below.
