Make sure it’s orderly. Summerslam takes place on Sunday and that means there are going to be a lot of big matches taking place on the card. That includes some matches for titles, but this time around, one person is going to have a chance to leave with two belts. This is a little more impressive than usual as she is not going to come in with one. It’s a bit of a tricky situation and one of the details has been resolved.
Sunday at Summerslam, Asuka is going to be challenging Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Title and Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Title. Asuka defeated Bayley to earn the shot at Banks and then won a battle royal to earn the shot at Bayley. This caused some issues between the two champs over who was going to get the first shot, and now we know a little more about that.
This week on SmackDown, Bayley and Banks faced Naomi in a Beat The Clock Challenge, where the one who defeated her in the faster time would get to defend against Asuka second at Summerslam. Banks defeated Naomi with the Bank Statement but Naomi defeated Bayley in the second match, meaning that Bayley will face Asuka first. Asuka defeated Bayley via submission on the August 10 edition of Monday Night Raw to earn her Raw Women’s Title shot.
It was a busy night. Check out both matches:
Opinion: I’m not wild on having the champ lose two days before her title shot, but this was an acceptable way to set up the order for Summerslam. If nothing else it continues the trend of having Banks outperform Bayley and could set up something between them down the road. Now that being said, I’m long past the point where I’m going to believe that match will happen until I actually see it, so take this with a grain of salt.
