That would explain a few things. Over the last few weeks, one of the biggest WWE stories has been the Lars Sullivan situation. After being found to have made a variety of horrible statements before being hired by the company, a WWE sponsor wasn’t happy. WWE responded with a huge fine, but Sullivan isn’t out of the news just yet. It turns out that the story ties back into another Sullivan story from earlier this year.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sullivan’s anxiety issues which kept him off WWE TV earlier this year were due to his worries that his past comments would be discovered. Sullivan was originally planned to attack John Cena on the January 14 episode of Monday Night Raw, setting up a WrestleMania 35 match, which Sullivan would have won. WWE worked with Sullivan as he dealt with his mental health issues and he was brought up after WrestleMania. Sullivan has yet to have an official match on the main roster.
While he hasn’t been wrestling, he has still been around. Check out Sullivan on this week’s SmackDown Live:
Opinion: This Sullivan story continues to stay interesting and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him punished further over his comments. If the comments were the reason for his anxiety issues, I can’t say I blame him. Those comments are the kind of things that can ruin a person and that was nearly the case for him. Sullivan is a talented performer, but there was no way around the things he said. Hopefully his mental health is better though and this can all be put behind him.
