It’s time to start setting up the card. Tonight on “Monday Night Raw”, the Universal Title match was set for “Roadblock 2016” as Roman Reigns defeated champion Kevin Owens to earn a shot at the pay per view. Owens had agreed to the match earlier in the night and General Manager Mick Foley made it official shortly thereafter.
This match isn’t the biggest surprise as it was reported on Twitter nearly a month ago by the arena hosting the pay per view. The match has been slowly built in recent weeks and could even date back to the night Owens first won the title back in August. Reigns was cheated out of the title match by an interfering Triple H, who has barely been seen since.
This is one of the only options for the title at the moment as Owens has already finished his feud with Seth Rollins, leaving very few potential opponents on the roster. I know the feud with Chris Jericho is coming but that would probably be better suited for a bigger stage like “Royal Rumble 2017”.
