While the returning Spirit Squad–now featuring a pared-down pair in the form of Kenny and Mikey–have been a staple of SmackDown in recent months, the team hasn’t been signed back onto WWE in any permanent capacity. They’ve been making Dolph Ziggler’s life miserable on a per-appearance basis, and making the bulk of their living in other avenues.

Now Kenny–that is, Kenny Dykstra–has been fired from his day job for missing an excessive amount of days. That’s according to Pro Wrestling Sheet, which reported on the 30-year-old’s release from his charity employer.

They also report that Kenny felt missing work was a reasonable price to pay to pursue his dream once again, and potentially work toward a full-time WWE contract.

I’d say holding your breath is unwise, but if James Ellsworth can become a permanent addition to the WWE locker room, anything is possible.
