While his last days in WWE as Stardust might have been underwhelming, it wasn’t due to a lack of talent on the part of the second-generation wrestler, Cody Rhodes. With the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, he was a two-time Intercontinental Champion and a six-time Tag Team Champion with a variety of partners.

Now that he’s free from his WWE contract and again wrestling independently, it seems he’s become a champion once again.

Global Force Wrestling, founded in 2014 by TNA co-creator Jeff Jarrett, held a contest between GFW NEXT*GEN Champion Sonjay Dutt and Cody Rhodes, in which the Dashing superstar captured the title.

We’ll miss Cody in WWE, but it’s tough to argue with his decision to leave the company when his talents can be better utilized elsewhere. Good luck hanging onto that championship–we hope there’s more to come.
