There isn’t room for everyone. WWE is the end goal for a lot of wrestlers around the world. It is the biggest and most powerful wrestling company in the world and there are a lot of wrestlers trying to get their foot in the door. However, there are only so many spots available and therefore, WWE has to cut them off somewhere. That was the case with a current AEW star.
AEW has done a lot of great things in their short history with their women’s division coming a long way in recent months. The company has a rather varied women’s roster, which has allowed some lesser known names to rise up on fans’ radar. Some of these names have become stars in their own right, with at least one of them having caught WWE’s eye before she went to AEW. So why wasn’t she signed?
Kris Statlander appeared on this week’s edition of AEW Unrestricted and talked about why she was not signed to WWE. Statlander said WWE was interested in signing her but didn’t due to some tweets that Stadtlander had made. One of the tweets mentioned the police locking down her college due to a potential active shooter and WWE flagged it due to the word “police” being used. Statlander deleted the tweets in question and was waiting on an update from WWE when AEW contacted her. She signed with AEW as it was a better fit and WWE was taking too long.
Stadtlander has been a heck of a star so far. Check out some of her time in AEW:
Opinion: That’s quite the line of thinking from WWE as while it does make sense to check wrestlers’ backgrounds, just listing a bunch of buzzwords seems to be a bit much. Statlander seems happy where she is now though and while she could wind up in WWE later, she might not want to as much after something like this. WWE dragged its feet and someone else picked up a talented wrestler. That’s on WWE and no one else.
Has Statlander impressed you? Will she ever be in WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
