The other audience. Wrestling has a long history with video games and that isn’t much of a surprise. The two industries fit together very well and that will always be the case. It is something where you can see the two worlds would compliment each other so well and they have for a long time now. They have worked both in big and small doses and now it might work in an old dose as well.

As is the case with almost anything in wrestling, WWE has dominated the video game market for a very long time. The WWE2K series has been around for a long time now, but last year’s edition did not go so well. Couple that with the Coronavirus pandemic delaying this year’s edition and other companies have a small, temporary opening. One is ready to pounce on the chance.

A trailer for the new RetroMania video game has been released. The game is an arcade style game and considered a sequel to 1991’s WWF WrestleFeat. It will feature a mixture of modern wrestlers and legends, including the Road Warriors, the NWO, Nick Aldis, Jeff Cobb and many more. If the game does well, there will be downloadable content available. There is no specific release date for the game, though it is expected in July 2020.

This does look cool. Check out the official trailer, featuring a lot of game play footage:

Opinion: This is something that could work out well for everyone involved. Not only is is an idea that will have an audience, but with platforms like Steam for distribution, the game could sell well. I’d love to see something like this get some more traction and maybe we could see it get some expansion. Fans are going to want to play wrestling games and with no new WWE game this year, it has a big window.
