Interesting Stat Comparing Brock Lesnar and CM Punk’s World Title Reigns

Just how do they stack up? If you’re a modern wrestling fan, you probably know that Brock Lesnar is the Universal Champion, or at least you should. I mean, I’m not sure why you would know that as he hasn’t been seen in about six weeks and has only defended his title a handful of times since winning it over a year ago. On Monday, Lesnar surpassed CM Punk’s 434 day title reign for the longest World Title reign since Hulk Hogan’s initial reign in the 1980s. However, Punk was around a little more frequently and that made a wrestling fan think.

According to Reddit user cheikhyourselfm8, Lesnar hasn’t defended his title at anywhere near the same rate that Punk defended his. If you count house show matches, Lesnar has defended his title ten times in 434 days. If Lesnar kept up his current pace, it would take him 6,133 days (about 16 years and 9 months) to match Punk’s amount of title defenses in a reign of the same length. At the moment, Lesnar is not currently scheduled for any upcoming title defenses.

Maybe they should settle it like this again, because this was awesome.

Opinion: I know there’s the whole Lesnar is a bigger star than Punk reaction, but this is rather ridiculous. It’s not just about having the champion around, but more about having nothing for most of the Monday Night Raw roster to fight over. What is Braun Strowman supposed to do at the moment? Or Roman Reigns? You can keep throwing them into these one off stories but at some point they need something to go after. Neither would fit as the Intercontinental Champion but oh, wait, there’s no World Champion for them to even challenge, let alone defeat. Lesnar as champion isn’t working and it’s time to change that.
