To the north we go. We’re less than four days away from Summerslam and that means one of the biggest weekends of the wrestling year is almost upon us. Summerslam is one of the Big Four pay per views and with it comes a lot of excitement as WWE will be taking over Toronto for the weekend. As usual, it also means an important announcement: the location of next year’s show.
As announced on WWE.com, Summerslam 2020 will be held at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on August 23. This is part of four straight days of WWE in the city, starting on August 21 with SmackDown Live, Takeover: Boston on August 22 and Monday Night Raw on August 23. This is the second time Summerslam has taken place in Boston after the 2006 edition.
Summerslam 2006 was quite the show. Check out some rapid fire highlights:
Opinion: As much as I’d like to see the show take place a bit closer to my home city, it’s no surprise to see the show in a big city like this. Boston hasn’t hosted a Summerslam in a good while so they’re a bit overdue for something like this. Putting it in a northeastern city tends to work out well for WWE as it is certainly a wrestling hotbed, so things should work out well for them.
