That would be a pick up. The wrestling world has changed a lot since AEW made its debut and that is a good thing. In addition to having some excellent wrestling and storytelling, the wrestlers themselves have been given the chance to showcase themselves on a national platform. That seems to be the case with a former WWE star who has quite a story of her own.
One of the bigger stories from 2020 was the issues of WWE taking control of its wrestlers’ third party platforms, with Twitch being near the top of the list. The wrestlers were not exactly thrilled with the move but only one of them seems to have been let go as a result. The release came as quite the surprise, but not we might be seeing her again sooner than later elsewhere.
During a recent appearance on Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW President Tony Khan mentioned that he was interested in speaking to Thea Trinidad, better known as Zelina Vega, who was released from WWE on November 13. Khan said that he was waiting for Trinidad’s 90 day no compete clause to expire, though the clause expired on February 11. There is no word on if the two sides have had any contact.
Vega could be quite the signing. Check out what she can do:
Opinion: Trinidad would certainly be a great signing for AEW, as she can both talk and wrestle at a high enough level. She was not let go due to anything she did on television as everything was behind the scenes. Trinidad is someone who could be quite the star for the company either as a manager or wrestler, so hopefully the two sides can come to an agreement.
