It happens. Titles are what makes the wrestling world go around. The idea is perfectly simple, as everyone wants to hold a championship and they try to take it away from the champion. There are all kinds of titles up and down the WWE roster and they can be used to advance any feud in a heartbeat. It’s such a simple idea: put a title on the line and you can have a feud built out of nowhere. That was the case again and this time around, something changed.

NXT UK has been trying to get back to normal after their long term hiatus in 2020 due to the Coronavirus. That put almost everything on hold and while everything didn’t completely reset, all of the stories had to be warmed up again. That is the case with all of its titles, which were not defended for months. One of NXT’s titles was defended this week and it did not go well for the champions.

The NXT UK Tag Team Titles changed hands during this week’s edition of NXT UK as Pretty Deadly defeated Gallus to win the championships. The title change is the first since NXT UK returned to regular events in September and the first time that Pretty Deadly has won the titles. Gallus had held the titles since since October 17, 2019, ending their title reign at 497 days.

It was a long title reign. Check out the title change and some of Gallus’ time with the titles:

Opinion: This wasn’t the biggest surprise as Pretty Deadly had been built up rather well in the last several weeks. Gallus had held the titles for a very long time even without the hiatus so the title change was hardly a stretch. Pretty Deadly needed to become champions though, if nothing else for the sake of giving us something fresh. This worked well and the match wasn’t too bad on top of it all.
