It’s a tradition. There are a lot of prominent wrestling families in the industry, including some of the most famous names the sport has ever seen. Some of them are names you will see come up over and over again, but at the same time there are some families you might not even know about. That was the case again this week as a second generation wrestling made his NXT UK debut.

NXT UK has become one of the better shows under the WWE umbrella and a lot of that is due to its roster. There are some incredible wrestlers on the show and that has allowed NXT UK to produce one great match after another. Sometimes you have to find a new source of talent though and that was the case this week as the son of a WWE legend stepped into the ring for the first time.

During this week’s edition of NXT UK, Bailey Matthews, the son of WWE legend and NXT General Manager William Regal, made his in-ring debut for the promotion. Matthews was defeated by Tyler Bate via pinfall in his debut. Matthews was signed earlier in the year after wrestling less than thirty matches in his career, which began in 2018, and has wrestled for WXW and Evolve.

It was a big day for Matthews. Check out the match and post match comments:

Bailey Matthews reflects on his NXT UK debut: NXT UK Exclusive, Feb. 25, 2021

Opinion: This is one of those cool things that makes for a great moment between both generations. Matthews looked good in his debut and while he does not have the longest career in the world so far, he got to showcase some rather nice potential here. I’m curious about where his career can go from here, though he is going to need a lot more ring time from here.
