The changing of the guard. To say that AJ Styles is one of the top stars in the wrestling world today is an understatement. It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t find him to be one of the best in the world with one classic match after another. He’s a two time WWE Champion and holds the title as we come into Backlash 2018. It’s hard to say how long he’s going to hold the title, but Backlash certainly has a good history for him, which is what WWE is looking at today.
It was a big night for the Phenomenal One.

Opinion: I’m not sure how big of a surprise this was as there was almost no way that Styles wasn’t going to become champion sooner rather than later. There are very few people that are on his level and they had to make him champion at some point. Ambrose is a main event star but I’m not sure how much staying power he had as the top guy on either show. His comeback should be interesting, but he was in over his head on this night in particular.
