I’d call him a special guest star. WWE has such a stacked roster that it can be hard to find a place for everyone to go at any given time. Even with Monday Night Raw and SmackDown combining for five hours of first rung television a week, there are still several names without something to do. That is the case in NXT as well, and this week’s show just got a lot more crowded.
The Royal Rumble has come and gone and this year’s show featured a big surprise winner of the men’s Royal Rumble match. Edge won the match, joining a pair of elite groups by not only winning the match for the second time but going wire to wire to pull it off. Edge has a World Title shot at WrestleMania 37 in his pocket now, but that show is over two months away. Now he has something to do to fill in his extra time.
Edge has announced that he will be appearing on this week’s edition of NXT, marking the first time that he has appeared on the regular NXT TV show. Edge’s initial retirement from wrestling came about three months after NXT originally debuted and Edge has only made sporadic WWE appearances since, including a cameo at ringside at Takeover: Orlando in 2017. There is no word on what Edge will be doing or if he will be having a match on the show.
In Orlando to visit my wife. Then I had a thought, @WWENXT needs to get #RatedR

Edge has had a busy week. Check out what he had to say after winning the Royal Rumble:
Opinion: I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that one of the biggest stars in WWE just happens to be making a surprise appearance on NXT the night they are opposing AEW’s Beach Break special. There is nothing at all wrong with that either and it certainly makes for a more interesting night. Edge showing up makes NXT feel that much more important, even if he is only there for a quick promo.
