I remember you! The Royal Rumble is one of the most unique WWE shows of the year as you get to see various wrestlers getting perhaps their only shot at glory all year. The Royal Rumble matches are almost always worth a look, just to see who might show up as a surprise entrance. That was the case again this year, as the women’s Royal Rumble included some nice surprises.

Three years ago, the Women’s Revolution came to the Royal Rumble as the first ever women’s edition took place. This was quite the milestone for women’s wrestling as for the first time, there were thirty women who could be put into such a match. There were some legends and surprise entrants just like in the men’s match and that was the case again this year.

There were several surprise entrants during this year’s women’s Royal Rumble, including various legends. Aside from women from Monday Night Raw, SmackDown and NXT, there were four surprise entrants who are not currently active. The surprise entrants included Jillian Hall, Victoria, Torrie Wilson and Alicia Fox. Mickie James was also announced as a legend, but she has never been announced as retiring or even leaving active competition.

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I love about the Royal Rumble. The entire appeal of the match is to see who is on the other side of that buzzer and these four (or five depending on your James take) were quite the surprises. It worked out well for everyone involved and the match wound up working well. These things can make or break a Rumble and they worked well here.
