It’s some elite company. The Royal Rumble is one of the most important shows of the year because it sets the stage for the biggest night of the WWE calendar. More often than not, we get to find out at least one of the major men and women’s matches for that year’s WrestleMania. That was the case again this year, as we now know who is going to WrestleMania after winning the Royal Rumbles.

The last three years of the Royal Rumble have been quite different as the show has expanded to include a women’s Royal Rumble as well. The new addition has changed the way the show and WWE works, as the Women’s Title matches at WrestleMania have become that much more important. The women’s match was back this year and now things have gotten a lot more interesting.

Bianca Belair and Edge won the women’s and men’s Royal Rumbles respectively, earning title shots at WrestleMania 37 in April. Belair appeared in her second Royal Rumble, entered at #3 and last eliminated Rhea Ripley to win. Edge won his second Royal Rumble by entering at #1 and last eliminated Randy Orton, who had entered at #2, to win. There is no word on which champions the two will challenge yet.

Opinion: This is an interesting way to go as Belair is brand new to the main event scene and Edge has been gone for so long in the first place. They went in two different directions and that is a good idea given how directionless WrestleMania has seemed so far. Both stories could work out well and it makes a lot of sense to have two different stories instead of the same thing twice.
