I don’t know how strong of a defense that is. This week on SmackDown Live, Sami Zayn lost a match to Aleister Black when Black hit him with the Black Mass kick to the head. That isn’t the biggest surprise in the world as Black is a big deal and Zayn loses a lot. What is strange is having the match take place on SmackDown Live when it was advertised for Sunday’s Summerslam. So what caused the change?
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the match took place on Tuesday instead of Sunday because there was nothing else to put into the spot on SmackDown Live. The show was rewritten about two hours before the show started and there was an hour left to fill. There is no word on if the story between Black and Zayn will be continuing and there is no word on any heat for either of them.
It was a surprise match. Check out Black vs. Zayn from SmackDown Live:
Opinion: That isn’t a good sign for this week’s SmackDown Live, but at least the match did take place at some point. Summerslam is the kind of show that should be full of bigger matches and Black vs. Zayn didn’t feel all that important. I’d prefer they do something like this than to leave them out there for a nothing match that no one cares about. Either way though, having that kind of a gap in the show so close to the start is not a good thing.
