There it goes again. WWE has been reeling since the Coronavirus outbreak and that does not seem to be changing anytime soon. At the end of the day, there isn’t much that WWE can do at the moment outside of running their regular television shows in front of no audiences at the Performance Center. That will change one day, but it turns out that one changed night is not coming when expected.
One of the biggest things missing from WWE as of late has been live events. It might seem overly simple but it’s that basic of a premise: why have non-televised events if there are no fans in the building? That has left the company with several holes in its schedule with some traditional shows missing from the calendar. One of the biggest dates scheduled has already been changed once and now it has been changed again.
Madison Square Garden has announced that the June 27 WWE live event has been postponed with no replacement date announced. This is the second time that the show, originally scheduled for March 22, has been postponed, though it is the first time the show has been postponed with no new date included. WWE’s next scheduled live event is on July 2 in Osaka, Japan.
WWE has a history in the Garden. Check out some of their highlights in the building:
Opinion: I’m not exactly surprised by this as it seems like it is going to be a long time before we get wrestling in front of live crowds again. As nice as it would be to have things back to normal, there are more important things that need to be done first. There is no need to make things riskier than they need to be and putting that many people in that big of a place would do just that.
