Can you blame him? Despite it not exactly being the highest of stakes, the Wednesday Night Wars have certainly made for an interesting ride over the last eight months. NXT and Dynamite have gone toe to toe on Wednesday nights to see just how far the Elite can carry their revolution. This has included some shots across the bow and one of them has gotten WWE’s attention.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Taz cut a promo on AEW World Champion Jon Moxley to set up Moxley’s title defense against Brian Cage on July 15. During the promo, Taz made a series of references to Moxley being exposed to the Coronavirus and the WWE’s testing methods. Taz indirectly referred to WWE as a “sloppy shop”, which may have been a step too far for their competition.
According to Wrestling Observer Radio, several people in WWE were unhappy with Taz’s comments as they were directed at the company. WWE has only started testing wrestlers for the Coronavirus in the last two weeks after previously just taking their temperatures. The company has also reportedly not been happy with employees for revealing their positive tests, including Renee Young and Kayla Braxton.
It did seem to run deep. Check out what got on WWE’s nerves:
Opinion: I can’t say I blame WWE for being annoyed at something like this, but at the same time there are only so many things that AEW can do before getting on WWE’s bad side. WWE is probably not too happy with them in the first place, so pushing even more buttons like this could get them in some hot water. The problem with that is WWE could do quite a few things to mess with AEW in a bigger way.
