With women’s wrestling at an all-time high, anybody considering retirement, even with good reason, may potentially miss out on the exposure that could set them apart from all the others, such was the case with STARDOM’s Mayu Iwatani.

Squared Circle Sirens are reporting that STARDOM Women of Stardom Champion Mayu Iwatani is no longer considering retirement, as previously reported.

It was reported by Squared Circle Sirens and The Wrestling Observer earlier this year that STARDOM would say goodbye to one of their original performers in Iwatani as she planned to retire.

STARDOM is reportedly pushing the June 21 Korakuen Hall match where she will face Io Shirai for the World of Stardom Championship. The story behind this is that while Iwatani has been there from the start, she has never captured the World of Stardom Championship. In addition, nobody has ever held both the World and Wonder of Stardom Championships at the same time.

Shirai is reportedly not taking place in the ‘Mae Young Classic,’ but has signed with WWE and will be making the transition over there shortly.

Editor’s Note:

I am glad that Iwatani is no longer retiring. That would be a blow to STARDOM and to the wrestling industry, who need as many women as they can get right now in order to continue this revolution.
