SmackDown Live Superstars Mandy Rose and Asuka are scheduled to compete at WWE Fastlane for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. That match may be in jeopardy, though.

During a recent WWE live event in New York, Rose took on Asuka in a match that resulted in the Champion being injured. The aftermath has continued over the past few days, and we are left without truly knowing how well the Japanese Superstar is for this Sunday.

Through social media, Asuka noted that she had just landed badly and is fine. In fact, she tweeted several times to confirm that she is still able to compete.

With that said, a planned match between Asuka and Sonya Deville was axed for SmackDown Live this week. The segment instead saw Rose defeat Naomi in a quick match before both Rose and Deville were attacked by Asuka.

As you can see from the video above, it seems Asuka was being protected. This has led many to wonder if what Asuka has said on social media is, indeed, the truth.

Rose herself was interviewed by Talk Sport, where she broke down what happened. She also went into detail as to what Asuka’s condition is.

Despite the two being in the midst of a rivalry, Rose noted that Asuka is doing fine and they took the proper precautions to ensure everything was handled correctly.

See what Rose had to say below:

“I was in my hometown, it was really great to be home. So I had about 30 people – friends and family – there that were all front row. I had all my nieces and nephews and it was really amazing to have them all there. Of course, not everything always goes according to plan and accidents happen.

“So, unfortunately, there was a little accident and we took the proper precautions and thankfully, Asuka is fine and she’s doing OK. You know, stuff happens. You can’t dwell on it, you just gotta move on.”

With that response, it does seem that the match will take place. If Asuka is indeed hurt, it doesn’t appear to be bad. Rest assured, the match will be contested this Sunday.

Editor’s Note:

I am thankful that this wasn’t serious. Both women are great and the roster needs as many faces as it can handle right now. Rose is a good challenger for Asuka, so here’s to hoping their match is good and we don’t see a repeat of what took place at the live event.

Do you think Rose stands a chance against Asuka? Does the match excite you?
