Elimination Chamber came to a close last night by crowning a new WWE Champion. As a months-long story build dictates, it looks like SmackDown’s top contest will be between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. But where does that leave the former champ, John Cena?
Cena’s name has been bounced around for several possible WrestleMania matches. We’ve heard he might take on Undertaker, but he’s been replaced by Roman Reigns there. We heard he might fight Samoa Joe, though Joe’s debut on Raw certainly indicates those plans are no longer in place.
The most recent report? John Cena will partner with Nikki Bella in a mixed tag-team match against the Miz and Maryse. That’s coming from a reliable source, and there’s even speculation that this match will end with an in-ring proposal.
You might have missed it, but WWE set up some beef between Nikki and Maryse last night, which certainly fits in with these reported plans. The nature of the conflict? During a backstage brawl with Natalya, Nikki was tossed into Maryse, causing a powderific explosion of make-up.
If it weren’t for the existing reports of the mixed tag match, we might not have even noticed it, but it certainly seems Cena’s big WrestleMania moment this year is getting started with a make-up dispute. I’m sure we’ll see more on Tuesday.
Looking forward to the mixed tag, or do you want these four involved in different WrestleMania contests? Let us know in the comments, or on Facebook!
