Tonight sees a huge selection of big matches for NXT, with WWE advertising four bouts in a number one contender’s tournament, and a massive title battle inside a steel cage. NXT as always is pre-taped, so if you don’t have time to catch the show tonight, here are the results of those advertised matches.
The tournament matches are all scheduled to be aired tonight, with the winner of each battle moving on to a Fatal Four-Way to determine the NXT Championship challenger at TakeOver: San Antonio. Some of these matches may end up broadcast out of order, but this is our best guess for the show based on current promotion.
Tye Dillinger vs. Eric Young
Tye wins via disqualification after an attack from Nikki Cross. Damo aids in the beatdown to Tye, then smiles at the members of Sanity–still sans Sawyer Fulton.
No Way Jose vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas
Jose and Almas have a competitive match, which Jose wins.
Roderick Strong vs. Elias Samson
Samson sings a song prior to the match, and the heat is described as “nuclear.” Quick victory for Strong.
Oney Lorcan vs. Bobby Roode
Lorcan reportedly gets a decent reaction, but nothing compared to the glorious Roode. Roode gets the win, but not before some stiff strikes from Lorcan. Some reports say Roode lost a tooth.
Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship in a Steel Cage Match
This match was taped on the Australia tour, after Shinsuke reclaimed the title in Osaka. Nakamura defeats Joe by pinfall after what’s reported to be four Kinshasas. Seems to be a definitive end to the championship rivalry.
That’s what you can expect, but you can still enjoy our live coverage of the show! NXT hits the WWE Network at 8PM Eastern/7PM Central.
