By now, most of us realize that scripted WWE events or storylines only appear real through the magic of television. However, there was one moment in 2007 that had even President-elect Donald Trump fooled.

Soon after Vince McMahon staged his own death by entering a limo that was rigged to explode seconds later, the WWE office was flooded with calls from concerned fans. According to an interview with Triple H from 2008 that has recently surfaced, Trump was among those calls.

“What kills me is so many people called,” Triple H said while chatting on the Opie and Anthony Show about the fiery limo. “Trump called and was like ‘did something happen to Vince?'”

To be fair, the whole thing did look pretty convincing. “Oh man, I was scared to death. If I hadn’t seen them pre-tape it where he got in and out of the car…” Triple H said with a chuckle.

Trump does have a long history with the McMahon family, so it makes sense that he’d want to check if everything is okay, but you’d think after being so deeply involved with the WWE that he has his own Hall of Fame spot he’d understand how it all works.
