The past two weeks have seen a ton of team announcements for the second Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and the tournament finally gets underway tonight. The opening match features the Tag Team Champions versus two of the hottest new names in NXT, so it should be a fun match.
We’ll also be seeing the debut of the big man Dan Matha. That’s all that’s been announced for tonight’s show, but there are still some lingering questions in NXT. Who’s next in Samoa Joe’s path of destruction? Can anyone challenge Asuka for the Women’s Championship?
NXT broadcasts on the WWE Network a 8PM Eastern/7PM Central, filmed in the Full Sail Arena.
The Dusty Roads Tag Team Classic begins
The tag team tribute to the late, great Dusty Rhodes produced some excellent matches last year, and the second edition of the tournament promises to do the same. The first round begins tonight, pitting the Tag Team Champions, the Revival, against Andrade “Cien” Almas and CWC favorite Cedric Alexander.
The Revival have been absolutely dominant throughout their championship run, and it seems that the victory of the old school brawlers is all but assured. Cien and Cedric should still put up an excellent fight, and tonight’s match promises to be a good one.
A new debut
Dan Matha signed with WWE about a year ago. The 28-year-old has some amateur wrestling experience, and has been making the rounds at local NXT shows throughout the past several months. Tonight he makes his television debut. NXT is in desperate need of some good new blood since the draft–will Matha deliver?
