Not to make like of serious situations, but it seems an unfortunate precedent is being set this week with pro wrestlers being attacked with knives. Jamie Noble suffered such an attack outside his home earlier this week, and it seems a similar attack has occurred to a former WWE star.
We reported earlier today that Alberto El Patron–known in WWE as Alberto Del Rio–had missed a scheduled appearance at a AAA event in Monterrey. The promotion expressed their disappointment in the star’s “lack of commitment.”
However, it seems that Alberto’s reason for missing the event is quite legitimate.
According to a statement posted on Instagram, Alberto was attacked by a criminal with a knife at a restaurant shortly after dinner. He suffered multiple lacerations, primarily on his arms.
Alberto received medical treatment, and missed his flight while documenting the incident at a local police station. The statement says he regrets disappointing the fans, but has no plans to miss any further dates. His appearance this weekend at a UK event will go on as planned.
In case there was any doubt about the veracity of Alberto’s claims, he posted images of the injuries he received.
Yikes. Here’s hoping everything’s okay with Alberto.
