This week, SmackDown ended with controversy. But it was just that “pro wrestling” controversy where a match had a suspicious finish to extend the storyline. Fans didn’t seem to mind, however, and that got the goat of Mick Foley.
SmackDown held a battle royal to determine a new number one contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. The final two were AJ Styles and Luke Harper, and the match ended when the pair seemed to eliminate each other simultaneously.
GM Daniel Bryan came out, ruled the match a draw, and decided that Harper and Styles would face each other next week to determine the ultimate victor.
Mick Foley had some criticism for the finish, but kept his critiques in storyline–at least at first.

But when a fellow wrestling news site made a provocative comment, Mick got a little more serious.

He’s not wrong, but that speaks more to the quality of SmackDown in providing consistent storylines than any extra latitude toward the blue brand. The conflict was set up, we immediately understood the implications, and it’s resulting in a match next week that promises to be a great one. That just sounds like good booking to me.
