Be warned, folks, here be spoilers. At least potentially.

Betting on scripted entertainment may seem like a fool’s game, since insider knowledge inevitably taints the odds. But last minute changes in plan backstage always keep folks guessing.

That being said? The bookies often get it right.

Randy Orton is now the heavy favorite to win the Royal Rumble, significantly ahead of other favorites like Undertaker, Goldberg, Finn Balor, and Braun Strowman. This change has been reflected at multiple betting sites, including SkyBet.

Why the recent shift? It’s likely due to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which we covered yesterday. According to that report, Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton are scheduled to go one-on-one at WrestleMania, with the current plan to get there featuring Orton as the Rumble winner and Wyatt as WWE Champion following Elimination Chamber.

No decision in WWE is final until it happens on-screen, but for now? An Orton win seems very likely. It would be the Viper’s second Rumble victory, following one in 2009 where he went on to face Triple H for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XXV.

Do you think Orton’s a good choice for a Rumble winner? Let us know in the comments below, or on our Facebook page!
