New TNA World Champion Crowned on “Impact Wrestling”

We’ve seen this before. Lashley and Eddie Edwards have been feuding over the TNA World Title for a good while now after Edwards defeated Lashley for the title on “Impact Wrestling” back in October. The two have kept fighting over the title since with Lashley finally asking for an Iron Man match to blow the feud off.

This week on “Impact Wrestling”, Lashley defeated Edwards to win the title 3-2 to possibly finish off their feud once and for all. This is Lashley’s fourth TNA World Title reign, putting him into a tie with Sting for the second most all time. Kurt Angle holds the record for most reigns with six.

I’m not exactly thrilled with this as Lashley doesn’t have much of a character. Really he’s just someone there for someone else to slay later on but somehow that means four World Title reigns. It feels like something we’ve seen before and that doesn’t make for the most interesting storytelling. TNA seems to have had these two plus Ethan Carter III feuding over the title for the better part of forever lately and that’s not the best thing in the world.
