WWE likes to call the Raw after WrestleMania bizarro land because of its wild crowd, but there was nothing more bizarre last night than Vince McMahon’s casual announcement of a “Superstar Shakeup.”
It sounded like a draft, but not really, but kind of, and… Well, who knows. Thankfully, a few more actual details followed up last night’s impromptu announcement.
PWInsider reports that the “shakeup” will not be a full draft, but rather will see Raw and SmackDown making deals and trades for talent on their respective shows. On-screen GMs Kurt Angle and Daniel Bryan are featured prominently on promotional images for the event.
WWE.com’s official announcement seems to corroborate that. “The WWE Chairman will be granting both sides an opportunity to make trades, deals and other moves that they feel fit, according to WWE.com sources.”
“Mr. McMahon also announced he has already conferred with lead representatives from Raw and SmackDown LIVE in advance of the shake-up that will take place for both brands. That includes the newly named Raw General Manager, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle, as well as SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, who are already in ongoing discussions with each other regarding next week’s anticipated Superstar movement, WWE.com has confirmed.”
