We might not be seeing much more of “Sexual Chocolate.”
First, Henry went on record stating that he has unsure as to when he might be retiring, but didn’t think it would be anytime soon. Then, Henry was quoted as saying that he knew his retirement was imminent, most likely in 2016, and that he would like to go out in a special way-maybe in a feud against Daniel Bryan.
Now, Henry is at it again, recently sitting down with Vaughn Johnson of Philly.com. Henry acknowledges that he has been talking about retirement a lot lately, and that it is a lot closer than we might thing. In addition, Henry revealed that his current WWE contract ends shortly after WrestleMania 32, and that he would not be signing a new contract:
“I don’t know how I let Vince [McMahon] convince me into signing another contract back in 2013. He did a bit of magic. He’s got that magic where you just go in the office and he’ll talk you into it. I won’t be signing any more contracts. I’m an elder statesman. This is a young guy business and I’m 100 percent for it. I love the marketing process. I love the international marketing. I love the talent development, but those are all things I’ll work with the company on to make sure that our business continues to thrive, but there’s a bunch of other stuff that I plan on doing.”
It seems as though Henry has come to terms with his impending retirement, but the exact time table as to when he hill be hanging up his boots is still unclear.
Editor’s Note:
I agree with Henry that he deserves one more quality story line before riding off into the sunset. I don’t know if WWE will actually give that to him, but I have enjoyed the career of what is sure to be a WWE Hall of Famer.
