The Dudley Boyz’ quest to become 10-time WWE Tag Team Champions could come full circle at the next pay-per-view,
The segment included a confrontation between The New Day and Edge and Christian, who were scheduled to appear on the “Stone Cold Podcast” later in the evening. The Dudley Boyz would then intervene, announcing that The Authority had granted them a title match for the pay-per-view.
It was also announced that The Prime Time Players would be invoking their rematch clause against The New Day for the Tag Team Championships during the Sept. 14 edition of “Raw.” Per The Authority, the winner of this match will go on to face The Dudley’s at “Night of Champions.”
WWE posted the following image on their official Twitter account regarding the backstage altercation:

As previously reported, The Prime Time Players lost the WWE Tag Team Championships during a Fatal 4-Way Match against The New Day, Los Matadores, and the Lucha Dragons at “SummerSlam.” The next night on “Raw,” The Dudley Boyz returned to WWE, interjecting themselves into the Tag Team Championship picture.
Editor’s Note:
First off, I have to comment on the backstage segment itself. The chemistry between The New Day and The Dudley’s was just per gold, ending with the “GET THE TABLES *clap *clap” chant mocking “New Day Rocks.” The New Day are by far my favorite part of WWE television every week, and I can’t wait to see more interaction between these two teams. I think we either see a Triple Threat match at “Night of Champions” stemming from some screwy finish next week on “Raw,” or just The New Day against The Dudley Boyz. Either way……it reeks of awesomeness.
