WWE has added another independent star to it’s already impressive talent roster.

As previously reported, independent wrestler Rich Swann was close to signing with WWE, pending a physical. While it later turned out that the “pending physical” story was a ruse, Swann has informed other independent promotions that he will no longer be available due to his WWE commitments.

Swann officially signing his WWE contract became clear when UK’s Pro Revolution Wrestling made the following comments regarding removing him from upcoming shows:

“Unfortunately due to commitments with WWE Rich Swann has had to pull out of his advertised appearances in two weeks time at Broxbourne Civic Hall & Southampton Guildhall respectively. We wish Rich Swann all the best and thank him for some of the most memorable moments in RevPro over the past few years.”

Swann, 24, will join the likes of other WWE talent who had strong followings on the independent scene, including Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, and Sami Zayn. Swann has competed in CZW, EVOLVE, Dragon Gate, and CHIKARA; he’s an aerial specialist, using an array of flips and dives to lay his opponents out.

It’s expected that Swann will begin training down in NXT developmental this October. No official confirmation has come from WWE as of yet, nor any information as to when we might see him on WWE programming.

Editor’s Note:

Unfortunately, I am not very familiar with Swann’s in-ring work. I am excited to see him in action based off of clips I have watched, and any time NXT adds talent is always a plus in my book.
