As we previously reported, former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton was injured during Tuesday night’s Smackdown tapings. WWE.com was the first site to report the injuries, saying that Orton suffered them during his match with current World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio. That match will air Friday night.
Orton took to Twitter Wednesday morning to explain the severity of his injuries, saying…
Hey, remember when I said don’t listen to the net? I’m fine. Del Rio’s kicks are hard as hell, and I caught one to the neck, part of the job
— Randy Orton (@RandyOrton) July 17, 2013
His “don’t listen to the net” comment was in regards to “dirtsheet” websites (like this one), and not directed towards WWE.com, who first broke the news immediately following the Smackdown tapings in Rhode Island. Orton clarifies his statement in a reply to one of his fans…
RT @TonyTimes2: @RandyOrton By “the net” do you mean WWE’s official company website? No I mean every other site that runs the story and adds their 2 cents. – Orton
Orton is currently being rebuilt as a major player in the WWE’s title picture, as he won the WWE Championship contract at Sunday’s Money In The Bank PPV.
