#3: “Hart Attack” – Bret “The Hitman” Hart
From the first pinch harmonic, until the sunglasses were on some lucky kid, EVERYONE marked out to this theme once it started. Bret Hart, one of the most popular professional wrestlers of all time, had one of the catchiest theme songs ever created. Johnston recorded MULTIPLE versions of Hart’s theme throughout the years, even giving “The Hitman” a brand new arrangement of if for his return in 2010, but the ’94-’97 version, “Hart Attack” will forever be the most recognizable.
It takes a great entrance theme to get the entire audience to pop, whether positively or negatively, at the very first note, and boy did this one ever. It’s very close to being the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be in the world of wrestling themes.
If you want an example of the kind of pop this theme used to get, check out this video of Shawn Michaels cutting a promo in Canada circa 2005. What a ridiculous response for “Hart Attack,” which was always the case no matter the country or year. Only a few can surpass it, not only in the ’85-’95 era, but of all time. It’s a classic, just like the “Hitman” himself.
