#4: “Sexy Boy” – “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels
From the moment the drums started…you knew you were about to get either a “show stopping” match, or an extremely entertaining promo segment. No matter what he was about to do, the minute “Sexy Boy” started, you knew you were about to see Shawn Michaels; “The Show Stoppah,” “The Icon”, “the Main Event!” “Mr. WrestleMania” has delivered so many superkicks to so many superstars that we’ve stopped counting. No matter if Michaels was heel or babyface, this theme served as a prefect companion for the Heartbreak Kid.
Cocky, brash, arrogant, and entertaining, this song matches the personality of its superstar during these years more than any other theme…with the exception of “Graveyard Symphony.” Michaels’s original version of “Sexy Boy” has his former manager, the late Sherri Martel, singing vocals on it. When they parted ways, he dubbed his own vocals over the track, and the rest is, as they say, history. This song was so iconic during this era, that Vince McMahon even recorded a version of himself performing it, which is available on WWF: The Music Vol. 2. Look it up and enjoy it’s “awfully great-ness.”
