#1: “Real American/American Made” – Hulk Hogan (WWF/WCW)
Are you at all surprised, brother?! As voted by you Wrestling Rumors-Maniacs, “Real American” and “Amercian Made” are the #1 most MARK OUT-able entrance themes of 1985-1995. Hulk Hogan’s WWF and WCW themes were the two that saw the biggest pops night after night. Hogan is the most popular and mainstream professional wrestler of all time. Period. Argue about his current relevance if you want, but through the 80’s and 90’s, there was no bigger name than Hulk Hogan. That said, there was no bigger entrance theme during his run with the WWF than “Real American.” It was an instant pop, and still is even today. If Vince wanted to swerve the WWE Universe tomorrow, he could play the first 25 seconds of “Real American” and the arena would come unglued.
It was the same way for Hogan in ’94 when he made the switch to the WCW. Hogan instantly brought a lot of new viewers with him down south, and Ted Turner did not want to disappoint the fans when it came to his WCW entrance. So what did he do? He had the WCW office guys find someone to record a blatant rip-off of “Real American,” and for all the Hulkamaniacs at the time, it worked. “Real American” will always be THE theme for Hulk Hogan, but for the few years that “American Made” got to introduce the yellow-and-red clad hero, it served its purpose. It ignited the crowd, and for this, we had to include both.
Hogan’s themes were just as popular as he was, and that means that they were without a doubt, the most popular entrance themes of this era.
