Multiple reports are boasting some backstage news regarding Vince McMahon and his reaction to Monday Night Raw’s recent ratings. Apparently, when the lowest Raw rating of the year came in a couple of weeks ago, McMahon got super agitated, leaving the rest of the company very uneasy.
That extremely poor episode of Raw went head-to-head with game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs, so many believed that could have been why ratings were so low. McMahon, however, was not one who shared this belief. WWE creative were reportedly working in fear after the numbers came in, and many thought that their jobs weren’t safe. Word is that McMahon was blaming the company’s product for the low rating more than the fact that they were up against an NBA game, as he didn’t understand how big of a TV draw the Miami Heat is. It’s also been said that he was under the assumption that Indiana isn’t a major market, so the Pacers could not be a popular team.
This could be the reason this Sunday’s WWE Payback PPV card has been changed over the last couple of weeks, and why McMahon appeared during the opening segment of Monday night’s Raw, as it is said that he believes his presence on WWE television will always help to improve the ratings.
