It had been previously reported that WWE has considered planning other international tournaments, following the success of the recent UK Tournament on their network.

In a report from the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company seems to be following through with these plans, as they have begun preparations to bring an Asian tournament to life.

According to the report, WWE has begun to contact talent in Asia, looking for passport details and other information necessary to put on a tournament. It should also be noted that the talent being contacted has been told outright that they will not be able to accept outside bookings if they are signed to a WWE deal in the U.S, the U.K. or Japan.

The company has been bringing several superstars from the orient as of late, including a returning Tajiri, Akira Tozawa, Asuka and Shinsuke Nakamura.

Editor’s Note:

This would be unbelievable. We all know of the rich wrestling tradition that exists in Asian markets, and having the focus shift completely to them will not only be a very special moment for them, but will also continue to demonstrate the shift in the business model that WWE has been showing over the past few years.
