Well, this is an interesting one, especially for wrestling fans who also happen to be Total Divas viewers. (I know you’re out there.)

We reported earlier that a new rumor had begun circulating about a proposed mixed tag team match of John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. the Miz & Maryse. The Wrestling Observer (subscription required), is now reporting the same story, so it seems this match is in the works.

It will certainly be a disappointment to fans who were hoping for the earlier planned Cena vs. Undertaker or Cena vs. Samoa Joe match, but there’s a reason this match could be far bigger than either of those–at least for WWE’s mainstream media coverage.

Unconfirmed reports are circulating that this could be Nikki Bella’s last match, and given her increased backstage role it seems there’s some merit to them. Going out on a big stage alongside her boyfriend would be a perfect send-off.

Of course, the big thing that must be speculated on from there is whether this “couple’s match” ends in a proposal from John Cena. It’s already been suggested, and if Cena were hoping to remain single then agreeing to plan this match would have been a very poor decision. It’s the natural result, and the folks at WWE have to know that–especially since the relationship between John and Nikki has recently become a major part of SmackDown storylines.

Do you think we’ll see this match? Or the proposal that’s speculated for afterwards? Let us know in the comments below, or on Facebook!
