Outside of the ring, The Rock has always been known for his talents in both acting and music. It seems that he is preparing to showcase a different kind of musical art to the rest of the world.

As first noted on his official Instagram account, “The Great One” announced that his production company Seven Bucks Productions is teaming with 44 Blue Productions to produce a Docu-series, “Hard Corps,” on the world of Drum Corps International, and will follow two groups, The Cadets and The Blue Devils throughout their summer tour, culminating at the World Championships in August 2016.

For those that have never seen the activity, the easiest way to think about Drum Corps is as a professional marching band. The members of these organizations spend their summers traveling across the country, performing a 12-minute show for tens of thousands of people who are fans of music and the visual arts.

Below is an excerpt from the official article published on FuseTV’s website, who will be partnering with The Rock:

‘Hard Corps’ is a high octane docu-soap set in the competitive world of  Drum Corps International. This cadence is set as the series follows two all-star teams, one in Pennsylviania and one in Northern California, who for the last 20 years, have been battling it out for the championship. Eat, sleep, band – repeat! Production began in November at locations throughout the United States as cameras capture the excitement, struggle and dedication of marching music’s major league. The series will culminate at the world championships in Indianapolis, Ind. August 2016.

The entertainers have incredible tenacity, drive and a hard core commitment to excellence. Viewers will be on the edge of their seats seeing who comes out on top,” noted Johnson. “At Seven Bucks we are passionate about shining a light on the hardworking and the talented. This group of performers fall into both of those categories,” said (Danny) Garcia.”

Editor’s Note:

WOOHOO!!!! As a music educator, marching band and Drum Corps has been something that I have been interested in since I was in high school. The opportunity for this activity to be showcased by a major celebrity is astounding, and is an incredibly positive thing for the advancement of music in America. If you have never seen Drum Corps, I HIGHLY encourage you to check it out on YouTube, and perhaps attend a live show. You won’t be disappointed what these men and women are capable of.
