According to SportsCenter‘s official Twitter account, the fight will be held in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather, who has been in retirement for 23 months and has a current record of 49-0, will be taking on McGregor in his first ever boxing match. Although McGregor has never competed in the boxing ring, he has amassed a record of 21-3 in the “Octagon,” and is one of the most recognized fighters in the world.
UFC president Dana White said that the fight would be at the boxing junior middleweight weight limit of 154 pounds.
“We’ve been in negotiations for a while,” White told SportsCenter. “Negotiations went smooth. Floyd is surrounded by some smart people, and we got this thing done. The impossible deal is now done.”
The current odds in Las Vegas stand with Mayweather being the favorite at -1,000, with McGregor paying back +700.
Editor’s Note:
While I don’t really care about this fight one way or the other, seeing McGregor get his teeth knocked out for his comments towards WWE and their superstars will be fun to witness.
