There may still be hope. One of the biggest stories of the year has been the Hardys, who have not only returned to WWE but done so as their standard characters instead of the Broken counterparts. This was the subject of a huge battle between Impact Wrestling and the Hardys themselves over who owned the rights to the characters. Now we have yet another update.

During an interview recently posted to the WWE Network, the Hardys spoke about the Broken Universe and its characters. Host Corey Graves brought up the characters and Matt Hardy responded by saying it could be unleashed again. Here are the rest of Matt’s comments on the potential of the characters returning:

“I definitely think there is a chance. It’s a work in progress. Unfortunately, due to legal reasons, I really can’t go into it right now but I find it very flattering and humbling that every time we come and wrestle in front of the WWE Universe, they chant and they address it and they acknowledge it. When it happens, and I’m not going to say if, when it happens, it’s going to be the most exciting thing to hit WWE programming in a long, long time. We’ve got to keep people guessing.”

Opinion: I’d love to see the characters show up in WWE as they really are some of the most brilliant creations in recent wrestling history. However, there’s every chance that this could wind up in legal limbo for a very long time as Impact Wrestling seemingly has a reason to not allow the characters to come to WWE (not saying that’s a bad thing).
