When you’re the “face that runs the place,” you can go wherever you want.

Tonight on “Raw,” WWE ran an advertisement saying that John Cena would be making his return to the company on the July 4 episode of “Smackdown Live.”

However, the biggest information to come from this announcement is the fact that Cena is now a free agent. It is unknown exactly what this means at this time.

The leader of the “CeNation” was last seen on WWE programming at WrestleMania 33. After defeating The Miz and Maryse in a tag team match, Cena would propose to his partner and girlfriend, Nikki Bella.

He is currently hosting the second season of “American Grit,” which currently airs on the FOX Network.

Editor’s Note:

I was not expecting this, but I am completely on board. Cena has earned the right to compete on both the red and blue brands, and having him as a part-timer on both shows could open up several possibilities. I do find it interesting that Roman Reigns announced that next week on “Raw,” he will be announcing his plans for “SummerSlam.” Coincidence?
