Tonight proved that any WWE show could be truly “phenomenal.”

At a Live Event tonight at Madison Square Garden, AJ Styles defeated Kevin Owens to become the new United States Champion. This is Styles’ first run with the championship. WWE released the following live video with an interview with the new champion backstage:

In addition, a fan replied to a tweet that Dave Meltzer sent out indicating that he won the match clean via the Phenomenal Forearm:

What makes this more interesting is that last week on “Smackdown Live,” “The Phenomenal One” won an “Independence Day Battle Royal” to become the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship. It is unknown what the company will do at this point, but those questions will most likely be answered on next week’s show.

Editor’s Note:

YES! I love it when the company does things like this; it continues to give us more reasons to attend Live Events. While the company always puts on a great show, having title changes gives an additional layer of intrigue as to what will happen on television next week. Great job to all!
