Almost a year ago, Finn Balor became the first ever WWE Universal Champion, as he defeated Seth Rollins at last year’s SummerSlam show. Unfortunately, Balor was badly injured in the match, and he was forced to relinquish the title the very next day.

Last year’s SummerSlam was pretty significant for Balor, but sadly, this year’s might not be.

According to Cageside Seats, Balor was supposed to challenge Brock Lesnar at next month’s show in Brooklyn, however, plans were changed, and Roman Reigns is now getting the shot at Lesnar at SummerSlam.

As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be a clear direction for Balor at SummerSlam. He’s currently feuding with Elias Samson, which will likely lead to an impromptu match at this Sunday’s Great Balls of Fire show.

If Balor doesn’t face The Drifter on Sunday, then that could be a sign that the two will wrestle each other at SummerSlam, which would be a disappointment to say the least.
