Good things seemingly always come to an end in the world of professional wrestling, be it through a push, title run or the break-up of a team. Today Wrestling Rumors have learned some disheartening news about Austin Aries.

WWE.com have today revealed that WWE ‘205 Live’ cruiserweight star Austin Aries has been released from his contract with the company.

WWE today revealed that Aries has been released from his contract with no explanation as to why. We speculate either Aries was unhappy with the company or it is due to his book or nagging injuries.

Austin Aries feels Baron Corbin's wrath: WWE NXT, March 2, 2016

It was just over a year ago when Aries signed with the company and debuted on NXT, but it appears his run is already over. It is worth looking back at how highly anticipated and exciting his debut was, only for him to be in this situation just a year later.

While we will bring you more updates throughout the coming days as more information becomes available. Stay tuned through all our social media!

Aries has taken to Twitter to cryptically speak on today, the day of his release. Take a look at these and let us know your thoughts. His second tweet seems to imply the reason is due to his book and-or diet.

WWE released the following, vague statement as to Aries’ release:

“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Austin Aries. WWE wishes Aries the best in all of his future endeavors.”

To reiterate, there is no more information available at the current time but Wrestling Rumors via our social media will continue to update you on this situation.

UPDATE

Aries reportedly asked to be released from WWE as he was only being used as a cruiserweight and wanted more. He apparently felt unsatisfied with his position in the company. This is also only reportedly one of the reasons.

Editor’s Note:

This is so sad… I don’t know what else to say. I never expected this to happen, nor did I want it to.
